Residents Protest Corruption and Neglect in Democratic Mayor’s Administration

Residents from various villages under Thornton Township expressed their fury towards Democratic mayor Tiffany Henyard during a protest on Saturday. The protesters demanded transparency regarding the township’s finances, as well as improvements in infrastructure and public services that have deteriorated due to neglect. Mary Avent, who led the Advisory Committee for Dolton’s Trustees of People’s group, said high taxes are not being used efficiently because necessary facilities like roads remain poor despite exorbitant fees paid by residents. Tracy Morris also spoke at the gathering, decrying that potholes were starting to engulf her neighborhood since repairs had stopped occurring regularly. Henyard has gained nationwide attention due to accusations of excessive spending using taxpayers’ funds, allegedly wasting resources and abusing power in both positions she holds – as mayor for Dolton village and supervisor for Thornton Township. The FBI recently served subpoenas on her office regarding personnel files from the previous 25 years along with other related records concerning administration officials Keith Freeman. Henyard’s alleged corruption has led to confrontations between herself and members of the public at recent town hall meetings, where an angry woman accused her of stealing funds that she had previously helped campaign for. The Village Council in Dolton also approved Lori Lightfoot as a special investigator this month regarding suspected misuse by Henyard related to management finances of both federal & state money resources within Thornton Township and other towns over which Henyard oversees their administration.
