Santa Monica man uses shopping cart and sword for street BBQ, faces misdemeanor charges

A bizarre incident took place in Santa Monica over the weekend where an individual caught on camera utilized a shopping cart and a sword to barbecue in the middle of the street around 3 p.m. On Sunday, along Ocean Avenue. The footage obtained from Citizen app shows the man dragging a packed shopping cart filled with burning woods through the bike lane while he skewered meat onto his weapon-the sword. Further videos displayed the person roaming down the road until an officer pulled over and arrested him near the beach area later on. As per Santa Monica Police Lieutenant Erika Aklufi, the grilling man is facing misdemeanor charges of theft for having a shopping cart with open flames resulting in reckless burning offense alongside resistance arrest penalties because he escaped while an officer caught sight of him. The police official also mentioned that although the individual was seen carrying a sword during his bizarre barbecue act, as it functioned merely to hold meat above the fire, no weapons charges would be imposed against him.
