The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies heard multiple gunshots coming from the back of Cabana Live shortly after midnight on Monday morning as they patrolled the area. The crowd dispersed, with officials confirming ten individuals had sustained injuries caused by firearms discharges during this incident.
According to witnesses present at the scene, a fist fight broke out inside Cabana Live before an uninvolved 16-year old wearing dark pants and grey/black attire identified as Christopher Bouie Jr., pulled out a handgun and began shooting towards the crowd of people. A security guard employed by Cabana Live managed to subdue Bouie Jr, taking him down on the ground while another member of staff assisted in placing his cuffs securely upon his wrists following disarmament from his clutches.
Authorities reported that management at Cabana Live provided information confirming Christopher Bouie Jr had indeed fired a firearm into a crowd inside the venue, and as he is underage, officials contacted his mother to request consent for questioning regarding this matter; however she declined stating her son was only prepared to answer questions in the presence of legal counsel.
Bouie Jr has since been transferred to Seminole County Juvenile Assessment Center where criminal charges have now been filed against him including attempted homicide, discharging a firearm on public property and use of this particular type during a felony offence as well as possession of said weapon by an underage individual. The seminal bullet from his gun was reportedly recovered following the event while police also found spent shell cases that matched those located inside Bouie Jr’s magazine at the scene.
Cabana Live released their own statement on Facebook, stating they are cooperating with authorities and praying for all involved in this incident, learning along as others still understand why isolated occurrences might transpire while investigations continue apace. They added that both Cabana Live itself is completely safe to use despite the disturbance which took place outside of it at around midnight on Monday morning.
