On April 26, 2024, Shane Brooks shared a video of a tornado in Barry, which is located in Navarro County, as severe storms struck North and Central Texas. The National Weather Service has reported that at least ten tornadoes touched down during these intense weather conditions. Four of those twisters were confirmed to have hit Navarro County: two EF-1’s with maximum wind speeds of 110 mph near Navarro Mills Lake and heading northeast towards Emhouse, as well as two smaller EF-0 tornadoes – one northwest of Frost. Two other twisters were spotted in McLennan County and Hill County, both close to China Springs; the first was a brief EF-0 while the second had an intensity rating of EF-1. An EF-2 tornado also hit near West, Texas on the border between McLennen and Hill Counties. With nearly 100 tornado warnings issued across the country that day alone, Friday proved to be one of the most active days for twisters in 2024 so far. The National Weather Service office in Omaha even set a new record by issuing an astonishing total of 48 tornado warnings – previously its highest recorded value during a single weather day event, reported Fox News Weather. As the weekend approaches, there is still potential for further severe weather conditions across North Texas that could include additional tornadoes on both Saturday and Sunday morning.
