ABC’s talk show “The View” criticized South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem after she revealed in her upcoming memoir that she once killed a young dog named Cricket. The hosts labeled her as “Governor Cruella” and called her actions sociopathic. Alyssa Farah Griffin argued that if the dog was challenging, there were organizations to rehome it instead of killing it. Sunny Hostin added that Noem’s behavior showed signs of being a sociopath because she killed an animal despite wanting Cricket for hunting purposes due to her aggression towards chickens. Navarro hoped that Trump would select Noem as his running mate so people could protest against her with their pets, and reminded viewers that there were dozens of organizations in South Dakota dedicated to helping animals. Hostin also pointed out the irony that while Cricket was meant for hunting pheasants, she killed a chicken instead, but still decided to kill the dog. Sara Haines found Noem’s decision shocking, especially since she wrote about it as if it were normal in her book “No Going Back: The Truth on Whats Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward”. Griffin thought that Trump would find this behavior bizarre because he barely leaves his country club. However, Noem defended herself by stating that tough decisions have to be made on farms and encouraged people to buy her book for “real, honest, and politically INcorrect stories” about difficult choices she has had to make in the past. On Sunday, she affirmed her confidence in being authentic with these types of decisions.
