Travis Kelce Sets Record Deal as NFL’s Highest-Paid Tight End in Chiefs Extension

Three-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce has set a new record for NFL tight ends with his latest contract deal, according to his representatives at Milk & Honey Sports. The 11-year veteran exclaimed “Back at it again, baby!” in a video posted by the team on X (formerly Twitter), and expressed gratitude towards being back in Kansas City Chiefs as he called signing an extension for two years through 2027 an honor and pleasure. Kelce’s new deal is worth $34.25 million, making him the highest-paid tight end in the league with a yearly average of $17.125 million surpassing New York Giants player Darren Waller who previously held that title at $17m per annum, as reported by sports salary tracker Spotrac. The Chiefs’ starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes congratulated Kelce in an Instagram post celebrating his continued service with the team and adding, “I told y’all I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy!” CNN has reached out to Kelce’s agent and manager for comment. The new contract comes after a successful year that saw Kelce win his third Super Bowl title in February as well as earning his ninth career Pro-Bowl nod, with the latest development capping off an exceptional 2021 so far which also includes starting a high profile relationship with music superstar Taylor Swift. After winning their third Super Bowl together, Kelce and Swift enjoyed vacation time in the Bahamas, where he shared his joy about being contentedly happy with People magazine, saying: “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” adding that “my glass is all the way full.”
