TUCSON, Ariz.- On April 28th early Sunday morning at approximately 1:40 a.m., a fatal quadruple shooting occurred near Country Club Road and Speedway Boulevard in Tucson. Erin Jones, a 20-year-old student attending the University of Arizona, was found outside a residence and taken to the hospital where she later passed away due to her injuries. Another victim was discovered inside a vehicle nearby and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds. A teenage girl and man also sustained harm in the incident and arrived at the hospital through private means; both individuals are expected to recover fully from their injuries.
The Tucson Police Department is currently investigating this case, but details regarding what led up to the shooting have yet to be disclosed as officers continue their investigation. Authorities believe that a large gathering occurred beforehand and many potential witnesses departed prior to police arriving on scene. At present time, it’s been confirmed that several University of Arizona students were in attendance during this incident.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact 911 or Crimestoppers anonymously via telephone at 88-CRIME (520-791-TIPS). UofA President Robert Robbins released a statement expressing his condolences for Erin Jones’ passing, describing it as “a tragic loss.” The full text of the president’s message can be read on the University’s official website.
