On Monday morning, two empty freight carriages completely derailed as part of a Union Pacific train in Portland, Oregon, while four other cars partially detached, resulting in the closure of the Steel Bridge. The bridge is an historic vertical lift structure that has been operational since 1912. Thankfully, there have been no reports of any injuries thus far.
