A man from Waxahachie, Texas named Rodney Williams has been sentenced to three life imprisonments for sexually abusing a child over a decade ago. The Ellis County District Attorney’s Office revealed that the 49-year-old was found guilty of one count of aggravated assault against a minor and two counts of indecency with a child following his trial last week. Prosecutors stated that Williams began abusing the victim, now aged 21, in his home back in 2012. The abuse remained hidden from authorities as family members who were informed about it failed to report it at the time. However, years later, she confided in a school counselor who reported the crime. During the trial, Williams’ victim testified that he would sneak into her room and sexually assault her during nighttime visits. The jury considered his previous five felony convictions before sentencing him to 99-year prison terms for each of the three charges, meaning they will be served consecutively with no possibility of parole until Williams’ death or release from confinement under Texas law. Ellis County District Attorney Ann Montgomery commended the victim’s bravery in coming forward and stated that “the citizens of Ellis County do not and will not tolerate those who harm our most precious assets.”
