Ryan Seacrest is set to replace Pat Sajak as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” after Sajak announced his retirement last year. While paying tribute to Sajak’s legacy, Seacrest expressed admiration for him and acknowledged that no one can fill such big shoes. He intends to continue having fun with contestants while putting his own spin on the classic show but will not try to replace Sajak completely. The handover takes place this fall, coinciding with “Wheel of Fortune’s” season 41 finale, and Seacrest has already filmed his first episode. Meanwhile, Maggie Sajak, Pat’s daughter, stood in for Vanna White on an episode due to her participation as a contestant playing for charity. The transition from Sajak to Seacrest is expected to be smooth since the latter learned everything he could during this period of change. “American Idol” judge Katy Perry will leave the show at the end of the season, and while there are several contenders on the shortlist to replace her, a decision needs to be made soon as the final episodes approach. Seacrest admitted that it’s getting harder for him to see contestants being eliminated each week but acknowledged that this is part of the process.
