Angel Carter Conrad, the twin sister of late Aaron Carter and younger sibling of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, never intended to become a public figure. However, after the deaths of her siblings Aaron, Leslie, and Bobbie Jean from complications related to drug addiction, she felt compelled to step into the spotlight as an advocate for mental health awareness. Conrad began working with the Kids Mental Health Foundation (formerly On Our Sleeves), a nonprofit initiative by Nationwide Children’s Hospital dedicated to raising children’s mental health awareness, along with her brother Nick. Their siblings Aaron, Leslie, and Bobbie Jean all died from drug addiction complications within one year of each other between 2017 and 2018. Conrad revealed that after the death of their sister Leslie in 2012 due to a drug overdose, everything changed for her family’s chaotic life filled with money, partying, addiction issues, fighting, drinking, and neglect. She also shared how Nick suggested therapy sessions for all family members following their reality series House of Carters in 2006; however, only Conrad accepted the offer at that time. The siblings have struggled to cope with grief after Aaron’s death as they tried helping him through his addiction issues over many years. However, she is determined not to repeat her family’s history and change their narrative by being a better parent for her daughter while advocating for children’s mental health awareness. Conrad also revealed that proceeds from the posthumous release of Aaron Carter’s final album in May 2023 will go towards benefiting Kids Mental Health Foundation, following high demand after its debut at Songs For Tomorrow benefit concert held earlier this year.
