Fox News national correspondent Matt Finn reports on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ response to the Biden administration’s parole and release program for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Exclusive DHS data reveals that more than 200,000 people entered the US via airports in four cities in Florida during an eight-month period between January and August of this year through a parole program initiated for Venezuelans last October allowing those who hadn’t previously entered illegally to fly or travel directly into the country. The policy was expanded in January 2023 to include Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Cubans with up to 30,000 people allowed entry per month under this program that allows for work permits and a two-year authorization to live in the US while Title 42 expulsions were expanded simultaneously. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claims it is “a safe and orderly way” of reaching the country, reducing numbers from these nationalities, with other countries viewing this as an example for tackling increased irregular migration they are experiencing themselves. However, Green, Chairman of Homeland Security Committee, believes that exceeds Congress’ parole powers intended to be used on a “case-by-case basis” and has been proven an impeachable offense in the House’s efforts to hold Mayorkas accountable for this administration’s open-border agenda. A lawsuit against this program by multiple states, who argue it creates a new visa system allowing hundreds of thousands of aliens entry into the US without justification, is currently being appealed after initially failing at district court level. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis believes that his state will ultimately succeed in shutting down Biden’s parole scheme due to its unlawfulness and abuse of constitutional authority. DHS claims those who enter via this program undergo rigorous security vettings along with other eligibility criteria.
