Double Tragedy in Verona: Tree Collapse Kills Grandfather, Infant

Tragedy struck a home in Verona, New Jersey as a 61-year-old man and his six-month-old grandson lost their lives after a tree fell on them in the backyard. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. On Monday evening at a residence located on West Lincoln Street. Authorities reported that the massive trunk uprooted from its position, collapsing onto the two victims below. Emergency services arrived promptly to provide aid; however, both individuals perished due to their injuries sustained in this unforeseen and catastrophic event. At present, there is no official statement confirming whether weather conditions contributed to the tree’s uprooting. The Verona Police Department has expressed its deepest sympathies towards the bereaved family during these challenging times via a public announcement that read: “The thoughts of the entirety of the Verona Police, Fire and Rescue Squad are presently centered on this grieved family as they navigate through an unfathomable tragedy.” The community is urged to offer their prayers for the affected relatives.
