George Santos’ Drag Queen Cameo Scheme Amidst Legal Woes

Disgraced former congressman George Santos announced his latest money-making scheme on Monday by offering personalized Cameo videos under an alleged drag queen alias called Kitara Ravache. In a tweet posted on X, formerly Twitter, the Republican politician declared: “Y’all weren’t ready for this drop? I’ve decided to bring Kitara out of the closet after 18 years!”
For $350, Santos is offering videos featuring his drag alter ego Kitara Ravache. This comes as a stark contrast from previous statements made by Santos denying any association with drag queens or dressing up in women’s clothing himself. In an earlier post on X, he wrote: “The most recent obsession from the media claiming that I am a drag Queen or ‘performed’ as a drag Queen is categorically false.”
However, days after his initial statement, Santos admitted to having dressed up as a woman for fun at a party in Brazil. He clarified that this did not make him a “drag queen” and stated: “No, I was not a drag queen in Brazil, guys. I was young, and I had fun at a festival.”
According to reports from the New York Post, Santos announced on Monday evening he would end his independent campaign for Congress after just two months into it. The move came as an attempt to avoid being perceived as retaliation against Nick LaLota – another Republican who represents New York’s 1st congressional district and whom Santos was running against at the time of his expulsion from Congress earlier this year due to a House Ethics Committee report that highlighted alleged campaign fund misuses.
Despite having been charged with several offences related to wire fraud, identity theft, falsification of records, credit card fraud, among others, and facing an indictment for these charges in September 2023 (for which he has pleaded not guilty), Santos’ trial date is set for May or June next year. However, prosecutors have requested that the judge move it to a later timeframe owing to what they view as an increasingly congested calendar and additional scheduling requests being made by defence attorneys in related cases involving other individuals indicted alongside Santos.
