Hochman Calls Out Gascon over Accused Official Stealing Police Data

Los Angeles County District Attorney candidate Nathan Hochman appeared on Fox & Friends First to discuss his campaign as incumbent George Gascon faces a runoff election in November amidst controversy surrounding one of his top officials, Diana Teran. Prosecutors have accused her of stealing confidential information about 11 deputies from the sheriff’s office when she worked there and using it improperly to assist defendants while working for Gascon at the district attorney’s office. The charges against Teran allege that she stole data on those deputies without authorization, accessed sensitive material years later, and impermissibly used it in criminal proceedings. This controversy deepens as some of this information included unfounded or unsustained allegations about police misconduct, which prosecutors are not required to hand over automatically under Brady v. Maryland case law. The Association of Deputy District Attorneys has criticized Gascon’s policies and questioned what he knew when regarding Teran’s alleged actions. Rank-and-file prosecutors have welcomed the charges against her on social media, with some expressing concern about the DA’s leadership being “not right or fair” and others questioning whether she will serve time in prison for these crimes. Gascon defended his Brady policy but did not comment further on Teran’s case as he stated that he would cooperate fully with state investigators looking into her alleged actions.
