LOS ANGELES – If you’re familiar with Beyoncé’s hit track “Texas Hold ‘Em,” then you might also want to check out the rest of her album, “Cowboy Carter.” While Beyoncé may be a prominent name in music, there is another group of talented artists from Los Angeles who have contributed their voices to this record. One such artist is Princess Fortier, whose vocals can be heard on four songs: “Daughter,” “Just For Fun,” “American Requiem” and “Sweet Honey.”
Fortier refers to herself as a “singer, actress and vocal contractor”, currently plying her craft in LA. Interestingly enough, it was Fortier’s contract with the producer Derek Dixie that led this group of artists from Los Angeles onto Beyoncé’s album. She explains how they contributed significantly by providing operatic background vocals as well as choir backgrounds on many tracks.
Fortier has an interesting backstory, having grown up in Belize where she sang frequently while still studying at UCLA with no real aspirations of becoming a singer professionally. However, Fortier discovered that singing helped alleviate her migraines and realized there was something special about music, voice and song when it came to healing.
Fortier’s vocal prowess has also landed collaborative projects such as working on tracks for Post Malone, Diana Ross, Chloe Bailey amongst others. She is additionally a member of the all-girl trio Era Queens that aims at bringing harmony in its unique and melodic style through songwriting. Fortier’s dedication to sharing her gift has led her to volunteer and teach voice classes with Compton Kidz Club as well, which she considers an honorable privilege.
