A 36-year-old man wielding a sword has been arrested in east London following an incident that left five people injured, including two police officers with serious stab wounds. The attacker was apprehended by authorities near Hainault underground station after reports of a vehicle being driven into a house and multiple stabbings were received at around 7am on Tuesday morning. Two members of the public are also currently receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries in hospital, while police have confirmed that there is no apparent terrorist motive behind the attack. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has condemned the incident as “shocking”, stating: “Such violence has no place on our streets.” The area around Hainault station remains closed due to a police investigation and anyone with information regarding the events of Tuesday morning are urged to contact authorities, who have confirmed that they are not seeking any further suspects.
