PLANO, Texas – The Plano Police Department has apprehended three men suspected of committing multiple ATM thefts in the city. Marcel Bechet, Gabriel Diaz-Columna, and Cornelius Washington were arrested early Wednesday morning after officers spotted them attempting to burglarize an ATM at a bank on Coit Road near President George Bush Turnpike. The police department classified these individuals as part of an organized group of ATM thieves who have been targeting machines while driving stolen trucks, according to investigators’ claims made through social media sources recently noting that several detectives witnessed the increasing incidents linked with this pattern. When burglary detectives and patrol officers saw the suspects arrive at the bank in a stolen truck on Wednesday morning, they immediately sprang into action and were able to capture them before any further damage could be done. The group is now facing felony theft charges, but additional charges related to the stolen vehicle are also possible as authorities work with its rightful owner to return it.
