NEW YORK CITY – A high school in Queens has been named as the top-performing institution among over 24,000 public schools across the United States by U.S News. The ranking was based on six factors including college readiness, state assessment proficiency, graduation rate and underserved student performance.
In total, more than 679 New York City high schools made it onto U.S News’ list of ranked institutions following a comprehensive review process. Niche has also recently released its own ranking of the “2024 Best Public High Schools in America”, which saw NYC represented across numerous entries on the list.
The city itself is home to an impressive 666 school districts, with over 1,279 high schools enrolling more than 867,00 students and staffed by nearly three-quarters of a million full-time teachers (73,440). To view the complete study, click here.
Buffalo, Rochester and Albany also featured in U.S News’ rankings for New York State as a whole – with Buffalo High School Medical Campus being ranked among America’s best 2% of public schools, whilst Hilton Central Elementary was named one of the top elementary institutions nationwide by Niche.
