Two relatives have tragically drowned while hiking near a lake outside Chattanooga, according to authorities. The Signal Mountain fire and police departments received reports that two individuals had fallen into deep waters on Rainbow Lake Trail on Sunday evening. Emergency personnel trekked for approximately one mile down the trail before encountering a female who revealed she was walking with others towards a large creek situated along the path when another woman slipped and fell in while attempting to cross it. The witness explained that a man had jumped into the water to save her, but also met his untimely demise. Crews successfully pulled out the former but unfortunately could not revive her. They later retrieved the body of the male hiker. Police identified the deceased woman as 23-year-old Greffania Merilus from Georgia and the man as Gullson Elve, a resident aged twenty in Birchwood, Tennessee. Although their relationship was unclear at first, it emerged that they were both members of an extended family.
