Barron Trump Joins Political Ranks as Florida RNC Delegate, Amid Speculation Over Father’s 2024 Bid

Barron Trump, the youngest child of former President Donald Trump, is set to make his debut in politics as a delegate for the Republican National Convention (RNC) representing Florida. This will mark his first significant foray into politics, following in the footsteps of his siblings, Donald Trump Jr. And Eric Trump, both of whom have already been appointed as Florida at-large RNC delegates, alongside Donald Trump’s daughter, Tiffany.

The Republican Party of Florida selected Barron, who will graduate from high school next week, as one of the state’s at-large delegates, as reported by NBC News based on a list of delegates obtained by the network. According to Florida GOP Chair, Evan Power, the selection of Barron as a delegate demonstrates the strong grassroots support the party continues to receive in Florida. He further stated that the party is preparing to secure a decisive victory in Florida.

Barron’s appointment as a delegate comes amid mounting speculation regarding his father’s potential candidacy for the 2024 elections. Several prominent Republican figures, including Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz, have already endorsed Donald Trump’s possible run for the White House.

Despite being the youngest member of the Trump family, Barron has managed to keep a relatively low profile compared to his siblings. However, he found himself in the limelight last month when Donald Trump’s legal team requested permission for him to attend Barron’s high school graduation ceremony during his ongoing criminal trial in New York related to hush money payments to an adult film star prior to the 2016 election. The judge granted the request.

As previously reported by NBC News, the Trump family’s influence on Florida’s RNC delegation is expected to be significant given that Donald Trump has won the state in the past two presidential elections, including by over three percentage points during his unsuccessful re-election bid in 2020. During the previous election cycle, the Florida Republican Party passed a resolution eliminating a loyalty pledge mandate for GOP presidential candidates looking to appear on the state’s primary ballot, which was backed by Donald Trump but strongly objected by Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign.

Other notable figures selected by the Florida GOP as RNC at-large delegates include Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., Michale Boulous, the husband of Tiffany Trump, Pam Bondi, a longtime Trump ally who has chaired pro-Trump super PACs, Sergio Gor, a senior Trump adviser, prominent Trump donor and former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter, and numerous state-level Republican politicians who opted to endorse Trump over Governor Ron DeSantis.

While many wealthy donors have expressed their desire for Trump to select a well-rounded candidate as his running mate, several prominent names such as Senator Marco Rubio, Representative Elise Stefanik, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and former Vice President Mike Pence have been suggested by various sources as potential picks.
