In a recent CNN interview, President Biden defended his economic record, dismissing polls showing voter disapproval and trusting former President Trump more on the issue. Despite low consumer confidence regarding the economy, including rising housing costs, decreasing real income adjusted for inflation, and weak economic growth since Biden took office, the President claimed the US economy is currently the strongest in the world. He cited a survey suggesting that although Americans believe the nation is not in good shape, they feel personally secure. Biden criticized polling methods, questioning how many individuals CNN calls to obtain a single response. He argued that his administration has generated more employment and provided access to well-paid positions. Although he acknowledged that inflation is a significant concern for people, he boasted about his administration’s track record of reducing inflation, noting that it was 9% when he assumed office. Biden rejected Burnett’s claim that recent GDP figures missed expectations and credited his administration with bringing down inflation better than any previous president. However, he acknowledged that people are entitled to their concerns and attributed rising junk fees to corporate greed.
