After being accused of kidnapping his estranged wife, Ana Maria Knezevic, while she was in Spain, David Knezevich, a Florida man, denied any involvement in her disappearance. According to court documents, David was seen leaving Ana’s Madrid apartment building with a suspected suitcase shortly before she went missing. Spanish police discovered that a man matching David’s description entered Ana’s building wearing a motorcycle helmet and used spray paint to disable a surveillance camera. Ana’s loved ones reported her missing after failing to hear from her following a planned trip to Barcelona. Police found no trace of her when they searched her apartment. David was arrested at Miami International Airport in connection with Ana’s disappearance, and Spanish authorities believe he rented a vehicle in Serbia in January and drove it to Spain before returning in March. A Colombian woman who communicated with David on a dating app received messages from him asking her to translate texts Ana had sent to another friend. In March, a woman claiming to be Ana canceled her insurance policies, and one of David’s employees admitted to impersonating Ana at his request to open a new bank account in her name using her Social Security number. Law enforcement suspects David did not want to divide marital assets equally during their contentious divorce. David’s lawyer declined to comment.
