Israeli Military Commander Calls for Ceasefire in North to End Escalating Tensions as Conflict Spreads Across Region

As tensions escalate in the region, top military commander Afif Kokhavi, formerly serving as Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, has urged that the only way to bring a halt to the ongoing conflict in the north is through halting hostilities in the Gaza Strip. His statement comes amidst a flurry of recent events, including recognition by the Israeli occupation army of the death of a senior officer in the north due to “operational activity”, as well as reports from OSINTdefender regarding the successful elimination of Hamas naval forces commander Ahmed Ali in a joint operation with Shin Bet. Additionally, US political commentator Jon Lovitz has called out individuals who advocate for genocide against Palestinians while falsely labelling the current situation in Palestine as such. Meanwhile, the situation in the West Bank continues unabated, with regular police operations and arrests targeting both protesters and Hamas-affiliated Palestinians. Amidst these developments, Israeli forces have continued their advance in the south of Gaza, seizing control of the former Yasir Arafat airport, while an exchange of fire takes place along the border with Lebanon. Families displaced multiple times during previous conflicts remain uncertain about where to seek safety, with some considering relocation to areas further from the front lines, while others crowd into undersupplied humanitarian zones. As the prospect of a full-scale invasion looms, Rafah, the city bordering Egypt, has been plunged into panic and chaos. The Washington Post, The Hill, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and Fox News have also reported on these events. Furthermore, according to a report by the Jewish Press, the Biden administration has delayed delivering much-needed ammunition to Israel, prompting criticism from various quarters, including Senator Ted Cruz, who argued that such a move would embolden Israel’s foes.
