Kennedy Raises Alarm Over Consequences of China’s Clean Energy Commitment, Critics Call Views “Dangerously Naive”

In a recent interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made concerning remarks about China’s clean energy initiative in 2014. Kennedy asserted that Chinese officials take this commitment “very seriously” and suggested that failure to adhere to the agreement could result in consequences such as job loss or even organ harvesting. Kennedy went on to praise China’s production of solar panels, stating that it led to a significant decrease in worldwide prices, ultimately ending American manufacturing of solar panels. These remarks, along with previous comments regarding the US’s relationship with China, have drawn criticism from experts, including retired Army Colonel John Mills, who called them “dangerously naive.” Despite this backlash, Kennedy has maintained his stance, arguing that the US should de-escalate military tensions with China and allow Taiwan and China to resolve their differences independently. Some have raised concerns that Kennedy’s views may put Taiwan at greater risk. The Kennedy campaign did not respond directly to questions about the 2014 remarks, instead stating that the current policy of confrontation with China puts Taiwan at higher risk by treating it as a chess piece in a larger geopolitical game.
