According to SailGP’s Chief Technology Officer Warren Jones and Chief Content Officer Melissa Lawton, the remote cloud-based media technology called LiveLineFX, currently utilized by SailGP, has the potential to be adopted by various sports such as cycling, horse racing, long-distance running, skiing, and surfing. This technology, which is based on live video, GPS, and Oracle’s cloud, enables centralized broadcast and graphics operations, resulting in increased opportunities for sponsors and partners to display their logos and branding on virtual on-screen hoardings, while simultaneously reducing costs and cutting carbon emissions. Additionally, it facilitates deeper explanations for new fans of complex sports, making it easier for them to understand the rules and follow the action. SailGP is also exploring the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the data available to viewers. While SailGP is not disclosing which sports might adopt this technology, they believe that many sports could benefit from it. As SailGP demonstrated during its recent event in Bermuda, this technology helps to make racing more accessible to viewers online and on television around the world.
