Paul Lopez Jr. Killed in Unprovoked Bus Stop Shooting; Wife Seeks Justice

On May 5 at around 11:30 p.m., Paul Lopez Jr. Was fatally shot at a bus stop near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix while waiting to go to work. Following an argument with at least one other person, a shooting broke out, leaving Lopez with life-threatening injuries. The perpetrator is still at large, and police are currently investigating the case. Lopez’s wife, Veronica Altamirano, discovered the news the following day when detectives came to her house. She recalls how Lopez, who provided for their son and her family, was known for his unconditional love. Altamirano believes justice will be served and urges anyone with information to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. A GoFundMe campaign has also been established to help cover Lopez’s funeral costs.
