Stormy Daniels Resumes Testimony in Trump Indictment Trial as Defense Challenges Credibility

During the ongoing criminal trial of former President Trump in New York, Stormy Daniels has returned to the witness stand to continue her testimony. This comes after Trump’s defense team, including veteran prosecutor Todd Blanche and attorney Susan Necheles, cross-examined Daniels on Tuesday. The charges against Trump relate to alleged payments made to Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, to keep quiet about an alleged 2006 extramarital affair with Trump. The defense team is attempting to discredit Daniels’ salacious testimony and question the credibility of her claims. Meanwhile, Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records, and the prosecution must prove that these offenses were committed in furtherance of another crime, such as conspiracy to promote or prevent election, which would be a felony. Other notable figures involved in the case include former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, whom Blanche successfully defended in a mortgage fraud case, and former district attorney Alvin Bragg, who worked alongside Blanche as a federal prosecutor. In addition, California Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon praised Trump for being awarded over $600,000 in legal fees following Daniels’ failed attempt to appeal a previous ruling against her. Court proceedings were adjourned on Wednesday but will resume on Thursday. Live coverage of the trial can be found here.
