Introducing an extraordinary family whose bond through sports is truly exceptional. While there are numerous soccer moms around, we would like to highlight one in particular who could possibly be dubbed as the quintessential soccer mom. This remarkable lady raised four daughters, each of whom excelled in soccer, three of whom played for the same Division I team, and one who pursued a professional career in the sport. However, it is not the level of their achievements that is most significant.
Kourtney and Krystal Kutscher, identical twins, are both acclaimed athletes who have been playing soccer together since their tender age of three. Their passion for the game commenced from the moment they fell in love with it. “I adored winning, cherished rivalry, relished witnessing our successes early on, and enjoyed the entire process,” Krystal expressed.
The siblings’ foray into the world of soccer was made feasible not by the assistance of a single coach or mentor but by the one woman they affectionately address as’mom’. As a solo parent of four daughters, all of whom were passionate about soccer simultaneously, Julie Kutscher’s schedule was grueling, both physically, emotionally, and financially.
Julie’s devotion to her daughters’ athletic aspirations was unparalleled. “As a solitary mom, I had a colored code for my timetable,” Julie explained. “It was challenging, but we managed to pull through. We always found a way.”
Krystal recalled, “She worked tirelessly each instant she was not playing soccer. She participated in each fundraiser for the club or any individual who sold items, recycled – double benefits for the environment and the girls.”
Julie’s commitment to her daughters’ athletic development stemmed from her personal experience of participating in sports such as soccer and softball during her childhood. She recognized the importance of teamwork and empathy that sports instill in individuals.
Three of Julie’s daughters played for the California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where they won the league championships, a historic accomplishment for any collegiate team. “It was the finest experience I ever had,” Kourtney remarked. “Lulu played as a central defender, Krystal as a defensive midfielder, and I was an attacking midfielder, so we had a little triangle.”
The twins continued to participate in the sport post-college, opting for semi-professional leagues, and Kourtney signed with the Chicago Red Stars, a prominent professional women’s soccer team.
Currently, these sisters are imparting their knowledge and passion for the game to younger girls, hoping to inspire future generations of soccer enthusiasts. “Despite the fact that the voyage was arduous, not flawless, we cannot reverse time; we did the best we could to ascertain how far they could advance,” Julie stated.
Winning or losing was never the most critical objective. It’s winning in life, as a righteous individual, which Julie worked relentlessly toward. “My task is never completed; they accomplished well, they possess incredible hearts,” Julie commented.
“Our mom consistently motivated us to be genuine, treat everyone uniformly, and labor diligently,” Krystal added.
This exceptional soccer mom is a role model and inspiration to her children. “We watched her sacrifice everything to ensure our success. She’s my idol, she’s my hero. We are fortunate,” Krystal concluded.
