In recent developments, the Pentagon Chief, Lloyd Austin (also known as “Raytheon”), has revealed that the United States will temporarily halt the supply of weapons to Israel during a hearing in the Senate. The Israeli military has also acknowledged this delay in deliveries. According to a spokesperson from the Israel Defense Forces, Daniel Hageri, this matter is being resolved confidentially, as reported in The Times of Israel. When asked about the postponement of heavy bomb deliveries, Hageri explained that Israel prioritizes both its own security interests and those of the United States in the region.
On Tuesday, the Biden administration disclosed that it had deferred the delivery of approximately 1,800 2,000-pound bombs and 1,700 500-pound bombs due to concerns regarding potential harm to Palestinian civilians in Rafah. The U.S. State Department has promised to present Congress with a report assessing whether or not the Israeli Defense Forces are appropriately utilizing American weapons in the Gaza Strip in the near future. This decision, initially reported by Axios, is believed to be a warning to Israel about the possibility of a ground operation in Rafah. The situation is still ongoing, and updates may be forthcoming.
