President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine can prevent Russian forces from advancing in the east if its allies significantly increase the supply of weapons. Speaking at a press conference alongside the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, in Kyiv, Zelenskyy highlighted the fact that Russia has been gradually making territorial gains in the region since January, with Ukraine’s depleted troops and dwindling stocks of arms and ammunition contributing to the issue. The US recently approved a substantial military aid package, but some units have yet to receive fresh supplies, and time is running out, according to Zelenskyy. He emphasized the necessity of additional brigades being armed upon their arrival due to the lag between votes and deliveries. Despite recent setbacks, including Ukraine’s withdrawal from three eastern towns last month, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s domestic manufacturing of drones and artillery rounds has proved helpful in resisting Russian assaults. As he delivered his remarks, air raid warnings sounded, reminding everyone present of the persisting danger posed by Russian missile and drone attacks throughout the nation, resulting in power losses for tens of thousands of civilians. Metsola, for her part, expressed admiration for how the Ukrainian people continue to defend themselves despite the constant threat of attack.
