Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron, has been selected as an at-large delegate for the Republican Party of Florida ahead of the Republican National Convention. This news comes just a week before Barron’s high school graduation, which had raised controversy given Trump’s ongoing trial in New York. However, Judge Juan Merchan granted Trump’s request to attend the ceremony. Meanwhile, as Trump’s trial in New York continues, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen is set to testify as the star witness for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team, who are attempting to prove that Trump falsified business records related to a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Trump has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges. Other legal matters facing Trump include charges of mishandling classified documents in Florida and allegedly attempting to subvert the 2020 election in Georgia, neither of which are currently scheduled for trial before the November election. Trump himself has traveled to battleground states during the trial, while some of his most vocal supporters, such as Senator Tim Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy, have rallied around him. Additionally, Trump suggested holding an event at Madison Square Garden, where he could address issues related to police, firemen, and teachers. Trump’s next major rally is scheduled for Saturday in Wildwood, New Jersey, where he will speak from the beach in the South Jersey town located near Cape May. However, despite Trump’s busy schedule, his trial is expected to continue for at least six weeks. Judges have shown favoritism towards Trump in some cases, raising concerns that this could impact the timing of the trial’s conclusion. Meanwhile, there have been reports of potential ethics concerns regarding District Attorney Fani Willis’ involvement in the Georgia case, where Trump, alongside eighteen associates, is charged with allegedly attempting to subvert the 2020 election in Georgia. Trump’s lawyers have attempted to remove Willis from the case due to these concerns, but a local appeals court has taken up the Trump team’s appeal of that decision. As a result, the trial’s status in Georgia remains uncertain.
