A Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris’ protective detail has been taken off their assignment after exhibiting concerning behavior that alarmed their colleagues at Joint Base Andrews earlier this week, ahead of a scheduled trip by Harris to Wisconsin. According to spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, the individual started acting in a manner that disturbed those around them on Monday morning. The nature of this behavior was not specified.
The agent was immediately removed from their post while medical personnel were summoned to attend to the situation. Vice President Harris was at her residence known as Naval Observatory during the incident and there was no disruption in her departure plans from the base, Guglielmi said. He added that “the U.S. Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously” but declined to provide further details due to medical confidentiality reasons.
Harris’ office has not yet responded to requests for comment about this occurrence reported first by the Washington Examiner news website on Tuesday night (EDT).
