NFL fans in Detroit showed their disapproval towards Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer during last week’s draft, as she received boos when announced a fourth-round pick for the Lions on Saturday. The NFL Draft broke attendance records while hosted by Detroit from Thursday through to Saturday with people having an enjoyable experience at the event; however, this was not the case for Governor Whitmer who faced backlash due to her previous actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2017, Michigan prohibited seeds’ sale in response to a state of emergency being declared concerning GMOs which raised public concerns and outrage over lockdown restrictions she implemented last year. The incident has left an impact on people who have not forgotten it, with Governor Whitmer becoming the subject of merciless online criticism after her unexpected reception at the NFL Draft.
