Anti-Israel Protests Spark Nationwide Campus Arrest Wave as Trump Urges End to Demonstrations

Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) appeared on ‘Fox & Friends First’ recently where he discussed his perspective on the recent wave of anti-Israel protests that have taken place at colleges and universities across the United States over the weekend, as well as an upcoming vote in the House concerning the Antisemitism Awareness Act. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump weighed in via Truth Social regarding these demonstrations, urging for their immediate cessation. The students protesting Israel’s military action against Hamas have reached close to 900 arrests since police evacuated a Columbia University encampment on April 18. The antisemitic movements aim at removing colleges and universities from investing in companies that support Israeli militancy, particularly in Gaza where over 34,000 deaths (mostly women and children) have been recorded following Hamas’s deadliest attack in Israel’s history on October 7, 2018. The protesters are still camping despite several institutions demanding they cease their encampments. On Monday morning, Trump called for an end to the protests via a post on Truth Social using all-caps letters. His social media activity also included comments about “Crooked Joe Biden,” who he claimed was ‘the worst president in the history of the United States.’ Furthermore, the former President spoke regarding several legal suits that have been initiated against him and described them as instances of election interference. Hundreds of protesters were detained during weekend demonstrations at universities like Indiana University Bloomington, Arizona State University, Northeastern University (Boston), Washington University in St Louis, and Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus on Monday morning.
