New York DA Sandra Doorley Faces Legal Consequences for Speeding and Defiance of Police Officer

A District Attorney in New York has found herself on the wrong side of the law after being caught speeding and refusing to stop for a police officer last week. Sandra Doorley, who serves as a DA in Monroe County, ignored commands from an officer during a traffic stop in Webster, NY on April 22 before returning home where she continued to argue with him. Bodycam footage released by the local police department shows Doorley repeatedly reminding the cop of her position and accusing him of being rude before claiming that she had been driving at a reasonable speed despite later admitting during an argument in front of Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier that she “didn’t feel like stopping”. The officer asked why, to which Doorley replied: “That’s not your choice.” She eventually apologized for her behavior and pleaded guilty to the violation on April 25. In a statement released by Doorley following the incident, obtained by local news outlet WHEC-TV, she said that she accepted responsibility for her actions as she believes in upholding traffic laws despite dedicating over three decades of her career to ensuring public safety and respect for law enforcement officers. However, Rochester City Council members have called upon New York State Attorney General Letitia James to investigate Doorley’s conduct after sending a letter signed by all nine councilors on April 27.
