Fox News legal analyst Kerri Kupec Urbahn discussed new concerns for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and recent findings from investigations into Hunter Biden during an appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend. Meanwhile, in Georgia’s Democratic primary debate last weekend, Willis’ political opponent Christian Wise Smith criticized her decision to hire a romantic partner as special counsel in the high-profile case against former President Donald Trump. Smith emphasised that Willis’ method for managing funds put everyone else in Fulton County at risk and called on her to “do things differently”. Despite this, local polling shows strong leads for Willis over Smith ahead of their primary showdown later this month. The controversy surrounding the case against Trump deepened when both Wills and her partner Nathan Wade admitted they started dating before 2022 despite claiming it was only official after charges were brought in January last year, with witnesses also alleging that they began a relationship earlier than claimed by Willis. Judge Scott McAfee ruled there was an “appearance of impropriety” but stopped short of declaring any actual conflict of interest. Trump has labelled the case against him as a political “witch hunt,” denouncing what he perceives as its compromised leadership, while Willis defended her decision to prosecute and dismissed criticism by stating that she would not allow politics or personal opinions to influence her work in this matter.
