The town of Surprise in Arizona has announced an arrest in connection with a shooting incident involving a Glendale Police officer. Gohan Kancab, aged 26, has been taken into custody on charges including aggravated assault with a simulated weapon, aggravated assault against police officers, disorderly conduct relating to weapons possession and shoplifting offences. The arrest comes after an incident at a hardware store in Glendale where the suspect was reported as being armed and waving around a gun following a theft from the premises on Sunday afternoon. As details emerged during the response by law enforcement officials, it became clear that Kancab had been brandishing what appeared to be a weapon while pointing it towards an officer who subsequently discharged his firearm at the suspect in self-defence. Fortunately, no other citizens or police officers were hurt in this incident and footage recorded via body cameras and dashboards is now being reviewed as part of standard procedures for such situations.
