Del Galdo Law Group withdraws representation of embattled Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard amidst mounting legal challenges and financial concerns

The legal representation firm representing embattled Dolton mayor Tiffany Henyard has requested withdrawal from cases involving her in the midst of a growing number of legal challenges facing Hen yard, reported Del Galdo Law Group (DGLG) in a letter addressed to both Henyard and village trustees. DGLG explained that payments owed by Henward for their services have not been forthcoming leading it to doubt the village’s insurance status considering there could potentially be judgements against Dolton amounting into millions of dollars, as evidenced from 22 ongoing lawsuits against Henyard alone.
Former employees, residents and others associated with Henyard since her election in 2021 have made numerous accusations including wrongful termination of staff members, misuse of public funds and attempts to conceal sexual assaults allegedly committed by Andrew Holmes – a Dolton trustee – during a trip to Las Vegas.
One particularly egregious civil lawsuit against Henyard involves the alleged firing of an employee who was sexually assaulted in Las Vegas along with a police officer as part of her effort to hide and conceal what had happened, according to allegations made by village residents.
Another accusation directed at Henward is related to the handling of funds for Tiffany Henyard Cares Foundation – an organization that primarily receives financial support from taxpayers – which has failed to provide transparency regarding its finances.
Despite a referendum recalling her as mayor passing in June 2022, Cook County Circuit Court Judge Paul Karkula deemed it invalid; Henyard was elected for the position two years prior following eight-year tenure at Dolton Village trustee post with an overwhelming majority of votes (82%) cast in favor.
Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been appointed by the village to investigate Henward, though this development is likely to result in veto action from her side since it’s anticipated that she will reject any individual hired for such a task.
