Tinder and Hinge Introduce Safety Features for Online Dating Amidst Rise in Harassment Against Vulnerable Groups

Here’s a rewrite of an article discussing new safety features being introduced by popular dating apps Tinder and Hinge:

As online harassment increases across digital spaces, especially targeting vulnerable groups like women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, dating apps Tinder and Hingle are rolling out protective measures to make matching and dating safer for users. Last week, both platforms announced new safety features including Tinder’s “Share My Date” and Hinge’s “Hidden Words.”

Tinder revealed its latest feature called Share My Date on April 22nd. The tool allows users to share information about their date plans directly with friends and family via the app, which is already a common practice among single individuals under 30 years old who use Tinder regularly; over half of them disclose this data to their acquaintances before meeting someone in person, according to research carried out by Tinder itself.

With Share My Date, users can share details such as the location, date and time of a planned encounter along with an image of their match. Users choose whom they would like to distribute that info through Tinder; multiple parties or select ones, if necessary for added confidentiality regarding dating prospects, all whilst preserving 30 days’ worth of advance dates on this platform as well. The date plan details are also editable in case the plans change suddenly at any point beforehand.

Tinder claims that Share My Date is part of its ongoing efforts to create a fun and safe environment for everyone using their app, with Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Hobley declaring: “At Tinder we keep releasing new features aimed towards creating an enjoyable, secure and respectful experience.” The feature will be rolled out across the US as well as many other countries in the coming months.

Hinge’s Hidden Words was launched on April 24th; this tool enables daters worldwide to filter words or phrases that they do not want to see when receiving incoming likes with comments, which is intended to reduce unwanted interactions while increasing safety and confidence during their dating journey. According to the New York-based company’s statement: “Meaningful connections can only occur if individuals feel secure.” The new feature aids daters in building safer, more comfortable relationships that facilitate better communication between users by deterring negative exchanges before they begin.

Users on Hinge are now able to create their own list of words or phrases which may cause offense; the incoming likes with comments will be moved into an isolated category where these individuals can individually review them at any point in time they feel compelled towards deletion as soon they are obtained or discard unopened ones without ever accessing it.

Hinge’s Vice President of Trust and Safety, Jeff Dunn, declared: “At Hinge we believe that building an environment where everyone can be secure is fundamental to developing genuine connections.” The feature aims at providing users with a more comfortable dating experience by allowing them to customize their preferences according to what they feel most appropriate for them personally.

Launched in 2012, Tinder has become available across the globe and claims that over half of its user base is between eighteen and twenty-five years old; it asserts that “dating online just got easier.” Hinge was established during the same year with a mission to inspire intimate relationships while making people less lonely. Through in-depth profiles, daters can have unique conversations which lead them offline towards fulfilling dates. The app claims that every two seconds someone is setting up an appointment via their platform; it’s “designed to be deleted.”
