Katherine Maher and the Leftist Agenda at NPR: From Color Revolutions Abroad to Censorship at Home

Beverly Hallberg, a fellow from conservative think tank Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), discussed NPR’s recent resignation by veteran editor Uri Berliner who accused new CEO Katherine Maher of left-wing bias and suppression of dissent. In an extensive report for City Journal, Rufo revealed that Maher has a troubling history advocating against the notion of objective truth and supporting censorship in favor of democracy. He also highlighted her involvement with organizations linked to U.S intelligence services during Color Revolutions overseas and how she brought this regime-change mentality home through NPR’s proclaimed left-wing narratives for control over communication in the state as described by Maher herself in a 2010 blog post about Cote d’Ivoire revolution. Rufo also pointed to accusations of adversarial American countries including China branding the National Democratic Institute, an institution which had worked alongside NDI under the leadership of Maher during her time there as “second CIA.” The report further revealed that Maher’s promotion of left-wing ideologies was a means for gaining power rather than any authentic commitment to it.
