Charlotte Police Officers Shot in Active Incident while Serving Warrant

CHARLOTTE, N.C – Multiple law enforcement officers have been struck by gunfire in Charlotte, North Carolina today, according to a statement released on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The incident occurred while authorities were attempting to serve a warrant at 5000 Galway Drive around noon local time. As of now, numerous officers have been transported to hospitals and gunfire continues in the area. Authorities are urging residents to remain indoors as roads surrounding the scene have been closed for faster ambulance transit due to ongoing police activity. At 2:23 p.m., police confirmed on X that a SWAT team was sent out and instructed people nearby to avoid the vicinity until further notice, emphasizing that this is still an active incident site.
