Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway has disclosed that she had to kiss numerous actors during auditions back in the 2000s as part of a process known as “chemistry tests”. She now describes it as being both unfair and disgusting, considering that those asked were already cast for an unspecified movie. The actress explained how at the time, this was considered normal practice by industry insiders, who would ask actors to engage in simulated romantic scenes with other performers to test their compatibility on camera. Hathaway recalled being told: “We have 10 men arriving today and you’ve already landed your part; isn’t that thrilling?” At the time, she wasn’t certain if something was amiss as this activity didn’t seem appealing to her. The actress confessed that in order not to lose everything by being labelled “difficult”, she pretended to be excited and went along with it despite feeling uneasy about these circumstances since they seemed revolting to her due to how simple it would have been for things to go wrong. Hathaway, who won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her part in 2012’s ‘Les Miserables,’ is presently promoting her new movie “The Idea of You”. In this film, she plays a single mother named Solène who starts an unexpected romance with Hayes (played by British actor Nicholas Galitzine) – the frontman for an exceptionally well-liked adolescent musical ensemble that they both meet at Coachella. During auditions for prospective cast members in her latest project, Hathaway claimed to have used a novel method of finding talent. She said: “For every contestant entering today we’re requesting that each picks the music track they feel their character would play as you leave tonight.” Accordingly, when she heard Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard’s voice while watching Galitzine perform his selection during a mock audition, Hathaway couldn’t help but smile. She added: “He saw me grin and relaxed; we just started dancing together.
