Three U.S. Marshals Killed, Four Officers Injured During Joint Investigation in Charlotte

Three U.S. Marshals were fatally shot and four Charlotte police officers sustained injuries during a joint investigation by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred while the task force attempted to serve an arrest warrant for firearm possession against a convicted felon at a residence located in the Shannon Park neighborhood’s 5000 block of Galway Drive. As soon as they encountered gunfire from one or more suspect(s), the U.S. Marshals Task Force was engaged by active shooters, according to authorities. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department initially reported that multiple police officers had been shot and subsequently disclosed through social media updates via Citizen App that at least one shooting suspect died inside the residence after clearing it out while two other occupants were being questioned by law enforcement officials. One of the injured cops sustained critical injuries, according to reports. Residents in the area have been urged to stay indoors and cooperate with police officers who had blocked several roads for faster ambulance transport following the incident’s occurrence at around 1:00 p.m.. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has also expressed his concern about the shooting, stating that he is aware of it and offered state resources to help in any way possible.
