Sean “Diddy” Combs is fighting back against certain allegations in one of the sexual assault lawsuits filed against him while maintaining his innocence. Attorneys for Diddy have submitted a motion to dismiss some claims made by Joi Dickerson-Neal, who alleged that he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1991 and further accused Combs of recording and disseminating the video evidence at an unspecified time. According to criminal defense attorney Phillip Hamilton from Wall Street law firm Hamilton Clarke LLP, this action by Diddy aims to get rid of accusations that were not legally applicable or in effect during the alleged offense’s occurrence. “As a seasoned criminal defense attorney, I would say it’s normal for defendants like Combs who are facing numerous legal troubles related to sexual assault and rape allegations as well as an incident involving swinging a kettlebell at UCLA football coach,” Hamilton explained in an interview with FOX 5 NY. The investigation by Homeland Security Investigators, which led to the raids on Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami properties five weeks ago, is ongoing but has not resulted in his arrest or criminal charges thus far; this delay does not necessarily indicate a lack of progress according to Hamilton who noted that some investigations could last up to two or three years. In contrast, Combs’ personal assistant Brendan Paul was charged with drug-related felonies by local authorities following the raids as he allegedly carried cocaine in his luggage while traveling with Diddy from Opa-Locka Executive Airport on that day. Paul’s case might broaden eventually if officials aim to join these accusations into any other potential investigation, Hamilton speculated further. In a new TMZ documentary titled “The Downfall of Diddy,” Marion “Suge” Knight – Combs’ long-standing adversary who is currently incarcerated due to various legal charges associated with Death Row Records – extended support towards the embattled artist in response to his ongoing struggles. Unlike some other detractors, Suge considered these circumstances a blow not just for Diddy but also on Hip Hop and its culture collectively; as a father, Combs’ children came into Knight’s thoughts when he contemplated how others might react towards the situation at hand. The U.S Attorney’s Office in the Southern District opted to withhold comments upon being reached by FOX 5 NY regarding this matter.
