During their conversation, which focused mainly on ways they could collaborate to “Make America Great Again,” DeSantis also discussed the future of his home state, describing it as “FANTASTIC!” According to sources familiar with their interactions after previous reports suggesting tension between them following claims that he might challenge Trump’s bid for office in 2024, they have been trading jabs since May when DeSantis joined other GOP contenders vying for the nomination. After a distant second-place finish at Iowa caucuses last January, however, DeSantis endorsed Trump and acknowledged that he was on course to win the Republican primary. Since then, despite remaining relatively quiet about his former rival’s candidacy, reports suggest that Florida Governor has pledged to fundraise for him in a bid to help secure victory against President Joe Biden who is hoping to reclaim the traditionally blue state this November.
