Community Gathers to Combat Teen Violence Six Months after Preston Lord’s Death: Chandler Police Chief Urges Direct Evidence Sharing, New Law Proposals

Chandler hosts community session for addressing teen violence six months after death of Preston Lord

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Six months have passed since the tragic demise of 16-year-old Preston Lord as he was brutally beaten at a Halloween party. To tackle adolescent aggression, Chandler arranged communal discourse meetings on Monday that saw an echoing call from Chandler Police Chief Bryan Chapman urging participants not to upload criminal proof onto social media platforms but rather disclose it directly to law enforcement agencies for expediting investigations.
Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke appealed to parents to aid in combating adolescent violence, declaring that they must share responsibility with their kids and prevent becoming an intrinsic element of the predicament by abetting instead of being a part of its solution. Chandler mom Julie Thorley affirmed that as social media has altered childhood experiences at an earlier age than before, parents need to communicate more frequently with children in this regard because things are unfolding sooner and it’s scarier for them nowadays compared to when the speaker was growing up since teenage behavior is not how it used to be.
Chief Chapman also reported that following a thorough analysis of all cases concerning adolescent violence within Chandler, his department concluded unreservedly none are tied back with the infamous Gilbert Goons group known for inciting aggression against rivals or individuals in retaliation over minor conflicts arising out of teenage animosities.
Chandler’s authorities now wish to instate two laws aiming at tackling juvenile brutality that could provide more authority to law enforcers through bans on selling and furnishing brass knuckles to minors, as well as limitations on unruly gatherings in the city limits. Chandler City Council will debate over these ordinances’ acceptance or rejection during its upcoming session scheduled for May this year.
