President Biden and his administration are attempting to revise Title IX, a law originally intended to protect women in 1972, by defining sex as an individual’s gender identity instead of their biological sex. This move has sparked outrage among many people who believe it will allow men identifying as women to take opportunities away from actual females.
The purpose of Title IX was to promote academic and athletic advancement for women; however, Biden’s decision goes against the intention of Congress by redefining the term “sex” in a way that forces schools to treat males like they are female and accept every student’s self-declared gender identity.
As a result, several state lawmakers have been taking action themselves rather than leaving everything solely under Biden’s hands, one of these being Texas Governor Greg Abbott who called the revision an “illegal dictate” in his letter to President Biden and instructed the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to disregard it.
According to Gaines for Girls host Riley Gaines, a vocal advocate against gender ideology taking away women’s rights, this move is necessary as Biden’s Title IX rewrite goes beyond his constitutional authority while also violating laws that Abbott himself signed in order to protect the integrity of female sports by preventing men from competing with them.
Gines called the president’s plan both unlawful and bigoted in her statement, demanding people do not conform but rather reject it outright because women’s rights are being threatened again under Biden’s leadership. The idea that Title IX would be used to enable males to encroach on female spaces is absurd as this was the exact opposite of what the law aimed for initially. It’s clear we live in a world where right and wrong have been flipped upside-down with leaders failing at safeguarding basic principles designed centuries ago; an outrageous state that must be reversed immediately before it’s too late to undo any further damage.
