“Mexican Jeffrey Dahmer” Suspect Miguel Cortez Accused of Serial Killings, Family Members Demand Justice for Victims

A suspected serial killer named Miguel Cortez has captured media attention as some dub him the “Mexican Jeffrey Dahmer.” The disturbing scene outside his apartment with blood-stained curtains flapping in the wind serves as an indication of the heinous acts he is accused of. Family members and authorities are comparing Cortez to notorious serial killer, Jeffery Dahmer due to his alleged string of murders.
Angela Calles, a relative of one of his victims, has another name for him: “monster.” Her 17-year-old niece Maria Jose Castillo was viciously assaulted and killed in April last year as her mother ran errands nearby. The victim’s body was discovered by the grieving parent who found Cortez attacking their daughter too, leaving behind a trail of injuries including stab wounds to the leg, neck, left lung, and pubic area.
Cortez attempted to flee but was detained by concerned neighbors until police arrived at his Santa Ana apartment. A chilling discovery awaited investigators inside: human remains and seven skulls were found in Cortez’ residence. Mexico City Prosecutor Ulises Lara has confirmed that there are currently seven homicide cases against the accused, yet other families of missing daughters believe this number may be significantly higher as authorities failed to investigate their loved ones’ disappearances properly.
These frustrated mothers demand justice for all victims and their own family members who have gone unaccounted for. Calles pleads with Mexican City prosecutors to ensure that Cortez is locked away forever, stating: “I just ask the fiscal [prosecutor] in Mexico City that they put this monster in jail and he never let him out and also justice for all the other victims and the other families too.”
The surviving victim’s family has set up a GoFundMe page called ‘Justice for Maria Jose,’ with funds raised being used to cover medical expenses as well as transportation costs. Calles herself is currently battling stage 4 cancer, while her sister remains in intensive care due to injuries sustained during the attack. The heartbroken relative has been forced to travel back and forth between Santa Ana and Mexico City repeatedly to be with her loved one during this harrowing time.
