Zelenskyy’s Response to Aid Package Amidst Border Crisis as 30 Die Trying to Evade Fighting

Fox News’ Greg Palkot conducted an exclusive interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding his response to the recently passed aid package for Ukraine. Meanwhile, according to a report by Ukrinform news agency on Monday, approximately 30 men have perished while attempting to cross Ukraine’s borders clandestinely and evade fighting in the ongoing conflict against Russia that began in 2014. Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine’s border service, disclosed this information. “Some of them lost their lives whilst crossing a mountain river or traversing mountains,” he stated during his conversation with Ukrinform.
Demченko revealed earlier that since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2014, around 450 criminal organizations have been discovered by border guards attempting to smuggle individuals across Ukraine’s borders. He further explained that attempts at unlawful crossing occur every day and are most frequently recorded on the frontiers with Moldova and Romania outside of official checkpoints. The highest number of people with forged documents is observed along the boundary between Poland, he added.
Last week, Ukrainian authorities suspended consular services to military-age male citizens until May 18 due to dissatisfaction from those overseas expecting help from Ukraine while contributing nothing to assist in the conflict against Russia, as stated by Demchenko during an interview with Ukraine’s state broadcaster earlier this month.
According to a report published last November by BBC based on data of unlawful border crossings through Romania, Moldova, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia since the start of the war, nearly 20,000 men have fled Ukraine in order to avoid being conscripted.
